Traditionally, Building regulations only get revised every 8 to 10 years, yet it will have been 4 years since the last revision, and prior to that there were revisions in 1995, 2002 and a minor one in 2005.

Why? The reason is a continuing energy step change.  If similar step changes continue, we will eventually get to a situation where all new builds are ‘zero carbon’, a UK Government target for 2018
